Color of Love

When I lived in California I was in a band called Color of Love.

My friend & neighbor Mike Ulrich had just made a beautiful album called Camphor Songs, which featured prominant female vocals by his friend Teresa Eggers, of the Sacramento-based band The Evening Episode. Teresa moved to Brooklyn not long after making the album, however, and Mike saw me play at a benefit and asked me if I'd be interested in learning her parts. I was totally into it and had a great time singing and playing with them. Mike even made me play bass & piano despite the fact that I'd never played bass before and only had a year of piano in middle school. It was stressful at times, but a fun challenge. I also did the band photography, which you can see here.

Unfortunately I left CA before making any formal recordings with Color of Love, but you can see a little bit of us on my Vimeo. Also, although it was a pretty significant stylistic departure for me (and maybe for some of my fans), I really really cannot emphasize enough what what an exquisite album Camphor Songs is. I would recommend it, and any future endeavors of Color of Love, to anyone.
